Residential Timber Treatment – Barnes



Barnes is a district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, known for its famous residents, the olympic studios (now olympic cinema) where many rock ‘n’ roll greats have performed and the largest number of independently owned businesses and restaurants than any other area in Britain.


The homeowners were restoring the house to its former glory, however became aware of timber decay in the properties structural timbers. Traditional building methods combined with a damp temperate climate causes the housing to suffer some of the highest levels of risk from insect and fungal attack in structural timber.

Renlon specified timber treatment using a specialist chemical spray to the floor, ceiling and roof timbers of the property.


Where timber was decayed as a result of the dry rot or dampness, the sections were treated with a fungicidal spray to prevent any further outbreak, this was used on floor, ceiling and roof timbers. A damp proof course was injected into the walls to prevent rising dampness by capillary action.
